Senso Sounds Showcase Australia

Senso Sounds roared into life about four years ago, as a result of Oliver Huntemann’s intense passion for quality techno. This time they have teamed up with Warg to bring their first ever showcase in Australia at the infamous Xe54!

The showcase will feature two of their well knows and reputable artists Carlo Ruetz and André Winter.

Carlo Ruetz:

It was a breakthrough by name, and by nature. By 2013, Carlo Ruetz had been playing twisted technoid minimal for a decade, but it was his debut longplayer of that year – Breakthrough – that launched him into the spotlight. Within 24 hours of its release the album crashed into the top spot of Beatport’s minimal techno chart, and it also caught the discerning ear of Richie Hawtin. Since that unmissable moment, Carlo has only gathered more and more momentum; acclaimed EPs for MINUS, DEEPERFECT and KD MUSIC, alongside memorable performances at international Minus showcases and Richie Hawtin’s essential Ibiza night ENTER. Unique in sound and in situation, Carlo Ruetz is the ‘overnight sensation’ born of ten years in the trenches of the underground.
Rostock-bred Carlo bought his first turntables and mixer in 2001, and his devotion to the minimalist aesthetic was forged in his early sets. He soon became a regular fixture of clubs and open air parties in northern Germany, then broadened his horizons further, to blaze the stage at ENTER. Ibiza at Space, FUSE Brussels, TOFFLER Rotterdam, 10 DAYS OFF – The Last Waltz Ghent, and a 2015 tour through India. Carlo began writing his own compositions in 2010, and marked up releases for Moonplay Records and Slaap Records before the game-changing arrival of Breakthrough through Supdub Digitales. Carlo Ruetz is Known for starting from scratch with every production, mining deep for unexpected sounds and arrangements, and taking compelling bends and turns while in the DJ booth. It’s no surprise that Richie Hawtin counts Carlo Ruetz as part of the new Minus generation. Expect to hear more from this overnight veteran who exists at the leading edge of minimalism and techno.

André Winter:

Yes, André Winter is one of those people, who with their first breath of air, realize that their heart beats techno. Errr or no? You tell me! André became interested in electronic music quite early. One of his first releases on Injection Records in the early 90s (under the Motion Unit monicker together with Mathias Hatting), was actually a real acid treasure. Afterwards he kept on spending all his pocket money on the typi- cal Roland hardware at the time and to release on labels such as Confused Record- ings, Superstition, Kompakt and Bush Records. His studio offers a real time travel adventure through techno’s history.
André has come a long way since the 90s. Having released under various aliases, i.e. Motion Unit, Freakazoid, D-Saw…, he also produced great artists such as Xenia Beliayeva, Humate and Oliver Huntemann, also Dubfire and Huntemann and finally, having worked on remixes of world-renowned artists such as the Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Anthony Rother, ect. He decided that there is even more he has to offer to the public. This time – solo!
In the end of 2008 he released his first solo release Trauma on Ideal Audio. The re- views came in and the EP was summarized as being “a charming hit with lashing synths, simply massive” (De:Bug 2008). Soon after, André had to take a ‘break’ from his own productions and concentrate on Oliver Huntemann’s forth studio album “Pa- ranoid”. The result was a wonderful longplayer, which has been charted by DJs around the world. Whatever he touches, he turns to gold – so musically adept is Mr. Winter. He says: “I am always searching for opportunities which allow me to influence sounds in new ways and to simply take different routes in electronic music. My per- sonal goal is to produce timeless music, which people will be enjoying in the years to come”.
After a couple of solo records later, André released his first DJ Mix CD in 2013, which you can find on the Ideal Audio “5ünf” Compilation. Referring to all this and whilst listening to a few examples taken off this huge sound archive it becomes pretty obvious that André Winter carved out a niche of his own throughout all these years. His music is based on moody, partly dark’ish and always captivating grooves and structures – a unique, thriving and essential technoid vision built from only a few hand-picked, uber-functional ingredients perfectly complementing an ever floating, hypnotic state of mind.
Hard-work and being true to your beliefs do pay off. Having played already in Rex Club in Paris, Kasantip Festival, Weekend Berlin, Bootshaus Cologne, the small but legendary Harry Klein in Munich and rocking the Amsterdam Dance Event, etc…
